Memory and date stamping – Tuesday 4th January 2022

I saw this article title last week and having an interest in memory, I felt compelled to write my thoughts.
From my vantage point, I see memories not being date stamped, but filed in the order that they are created. Thereby a recent memory can never be mixed up with an early memory.
An interesting capability is for example, watching a movie and your memory system is noting what you see and what you think and feel. If you see something in the movie that takes you back in your life to an early memory, your memory will note that down and form a link or an association to the movie and the early memory. It’s really an amazing tool we have within our brain.
