Non-Random Genetic Mutations – Sunday 16th January 2022
Back in about 2004 I wrote an article explaining that genetic errors generally aren’t random. We can breed mice to have a genetic error to research a condition, but my point at the time was that the mice don’t have what caused the error and that’s a very different situation from a person who has the genetic error in question because they do have what caused the error. So though it’s many years since, I am glad to see that this issue is getting some attention because if you really want to solve genetic problems, then this is essential to doing so.
It’s very vast though, different genetic issues cause different mutations and then there is different errors and different types of errors in those genes and multiple causes as well in many cases. At the time I recall saying, “we are going to need a bigger boat”. (Quote from the movie Jaws)
